Adding an air hockey to your basement or games room is a great choice. Air hockey is a fast-paced fun game and the rules are pretty simple. Score on your opponent. Don’t let them score on you. That’s about it.
Before you run out and buy an air hockey table though, as with a pool table you want to ensure you have enough space in the room you’re planning on putting the table in. While the average full sized air hockey table requires less space than a typical pool table there are a few considerations to be aware of.
Air hockey tables also come in various sizes to offer a fun alternative for those who don’t have the room for a larger table and for younger players. Tabletop games that sit on a kitchen table are mini-versions typically about 40″ x 20″ x 8″ that weigh 5 – 30 lbs depending on the size and material they’re made of. Medium-sized tables tend to be about 5′ x 3′ and weigh around 75 – 90 lbs. Both the United States Air Hockey Association (USAA) and the Air Hockey Player Association (AHPA) state that a full sized tournament regulation air hockey table size is 8′ in length x 6′ in width and will typically weigh 385 – 650 lbs.
