On this website we’ve already discussed my favorite video game system of all time Intellivision by Mattel. Since the original Intellivision’s incarnation which ran from 1979 – 1984 and again from 1984 onwards, there have been a number of attempts to revive the Intellivision name and brand. From updated consoles to new owners offering existing Intellivision games on other systems, a number of different owners have tried to bring the name back.
Beginning in 2018, a new owner named Tommy Tallarico took over the Intellivision name and on April 15, 2021, a brand new, modern Intellivision console called Amico will arrive courtesy of his company. Personally, I can’t wait as the company will offer the Intellivision Amico console along with a number of updated Intellivision games including Shark! Shark!, Astrosmash, Missile Command, Snafoo and more.
The game will launch with 6 games included with 40 additional games expected after that.
I recently traded emails with Kevin Strom, Intellivision’s Director of Customer Experience, and he confirmed they are busy working away on the upcoming Amico launch. He’s an old school video game fan too and mentioned he still has his original Mattel Intellivision console among others.
